Description

Teens Behind the Scenes is a FREE program for youth ages 13-18 (residing on Hawaii Island).

In this weekly class participants will learn to build the backbone of any good show, be it for Live Theater or Digital Media, and will support the casts of other theater camps to deliver powerful presentations!

MEET THE INSTRUCTORS:

Jamie Hughes

Writing, Theatre Tech, Videography

Jamie Hughes is Aloha Theatre's resident Technical Coordinator, and is dedicated to ensuring all behind the scenes work at the theater is fun, efficient and safe. He has a BA in Creative Writing and Film from Emory University, where he gained experience in set coordination, lighting/audio design and film editing, and an MFA in Writing for the Performing Arts from UCR, where he directed several short films and plays. Through his work at the Aloha Theatre, he has gained experience in all behind the scenes elements of productions, including theatrical sounds and lights, set and prop creation, stage managing and theater maintenance.

 

Sara Athans

Artistic Director

Sara is a community arts administrator, facilitator, and director originally from Anchorage, Alaska. Prior to joining the Aloha Theatre, Sara worked in a pre-K special education classroom in Kailua-Kona; as the Director of Programs at the UMLAUF Sculpture Garden & Museum in Austin, Texas; and as the Executive Director of Anchorage Community Theatre in Anchorage, Alaska. Most recently Sara directed “Little Shop of Horrors” for the Aloha Theatre. She holds a BA in Theatre and Dance from the University of Texas and an MA in Applied Theatre from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London.
