Description

Winter Break is Coming… and that’s music to our ears!

Kona Dance & Performing Arts and Aloha Performing Arts Company are teaming up to bring some serious movement and musicality to students in south Kona.

We’re calling it our Musical Theatre Bootcamp, with classes in Mask, Mime, Tap, Jazz, Musical Theatre and Singing.

  • Week Two: is for Teens ages 13-18, and will run from December 27th through December 30th, from 9:30am-3:30pm.

Students will spend the first half of the week in the Kona Dance studio, learning what it takes to quickly put on a spectacular showcase. The last two days will be spent learning the ropes and treading the boards at the historic Aloha Theatre.

Our Youth Winter Break Workshops culminate in a presentation for family, friends, and invited guests.

*Students will also have an opportunity to be featured in a YouTube Music Video!*

Born in Montana, Josey Mae began dancing at age four, and her passion for theatre grew when she started booking lead roles in musicals produced by The Missoula Children’s Theatre. Josey was the captain of her drama team and won the MHSA State Championship in the Serious Solo Acting Division. In 2016 she received her Associate’s Degree in Acting from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in Hollywood. Josey can be seen on screen for Oh My Disney Channel and starring in “Area 77” which premiered at the Hawai’i International Short Film Festival. A favorite role she played on The Aloha Theatre’s stage was  “Granny” from Into the Woods. Josey is stoked to be instructing “The Little Theatre Club” again, and grateful for opportunities to share her experience of performing arts with the awesome community of Big Island!
